Functions of Industrial Glucose:
1. Medicine: it regulates body's pH balance and restores nerve function, also used as a food additive for the same purpose;
2. Water Quality Stabilizer:
⑴ It has a significant coordination effect, suitable for various formulations such as molybdenum, silicon, phosphorus, tungsten, nitrite, etc., which significantly improves corrosion resistance due to this effect;
⑵ Unlike other corrosion inhibitors, its corrosion resistance increases with temperature rise;
⑶ Its scale inhibition ability is excellent, particularly for Fe3+, with strong complexing and chelating effects;
(4) As a corrosion inhibitor and scale inhibitor in circulating cooling water, it outperforms other inhibitors, achieving pollution control;
3. Food Industry: it can effectively prevent low sodium syndrome, making it a food additive. Sodium gluconate and potassium gluconate have excellent taste thresholds. Sodium gluconate is non-irritating, non-bitter, and has a salt taste similar to table salt, with a threshold much higher than other organic acid salts, 5 times that of table salt, 2.6 times that of sodium malate, and 16.3 times that of sodium lactate. Sodium gluconate and potassium gluconate are used in food processing to adjust pH, improve food taste, and replace salt to make healthy low-salt or no-salt (no sodium chloride) foods, greatly improving human health and enriching life;
4. Sewage Treatment: industrial glucose is added during commissioning to provide carbon source, fostering bacteria and improving wastewater biodegradability. If the system's COD and BOD are insufficient for bacterial growth, additional addition is necessary to prevent sludge aging and biological activity reduction;
5. In industries like food and medicine, it can be directly used, while in dyeing, leather tanning, and mirror manufacturing, it serves as a reducing agent. In the thermos bottle silver plating process, glucose is commonly used as a reducing agent. In industry, glucose is also widely used to synthesize vitamin C (ascorbic acid).
