Application fields of polyacrylamide

Application fields of polyacrylamide
Polyacrylamide is currently one of the important organic polymer flocculants in the domestic industry. Widely used in papermaking, oil fields, sludge dewatering, municipal wastewater, industrial wastewater, raw water treatment, and industrial solid-liquid separation processes, greatly improving sedimentation, clarification, air flotation, concentration, and dewatering rates, and enhancing solid-liquid separation efficiency.

Function: Dehydration, adsorption, turbidity removal, adhesion and other functions, with excellent flocculation effect.

Application area:

1. Used for flocculation and sedimentation of suspended solids in suspensions, especially suitable for flocculation and sedimentation of suspended solids in acidic or slightly acidic materials. The most suitable equipment is sedimentation tanks, high-efficiency air flotation tanks, etc.

2. The filtration equipment used for dewatering activated sludge in sewage treatment plants and sludge in water treatment plants includes centrifuges, belt filter presses, plate and frame filter presses, etc. The reactions in product treatment include fast coagulation speed and sludge water separation.

3. Filter aids and sizing agents for paper mills and process production.

4. It is used as a thickener in building materials for waterproofing purposes. The thickening effect is better with anionic polyacrylamide. Common raw materials for construction adhesives include polyvinyl alcohol, acrylamide, polyacrylamide, etc. Acrylamide is toxic and not suitable for making glue. Choose polyacrylamide. PAM has ultra-high viscosity and excellent water retention due to its unique water molecule structure.

5. Mud treatment in the construction industry: Construction pile driving, tunnels, and caves all produce a large amount of mud, which contains a large amount of suspended fine mud particles. Polyacrylamide is used as a mud water separation agent in infrastructure construction to improve flocculation and sedimentation effects, and better promote mud water separation. Polyacrylamide, as an external additive for concrete, can improve the interaction between concrete particles, thereby increasing the strength and toughness of concrete. PAM mainly plays a role in flocculation, water retention, thickening, bonding, and smoothing in building materials such as concrete, putty powder, and mortar.

Instructions for using polyacrylamide:
The optimal dosage can be determined by adjusting the concentration of chemicals through experiments based on different water quality. Solid products need to be dissolved and diluted before being added. The dosage varies for different types of wastewater, and the specific dosage is subject to flocculation testing.
