Product Overview: Anionic Polyacrylamide
Anionic Polyacrylamide (APAM), a compound primarily known as flocculant or coagulator, is available in solid white or pale white granules. In its liquid form, it exists as an opaque and viscous gel that dissolves quickly in water but degrades at high temperatures above 120 degrees Celsius. Its molecular structure, +CH2-CHn, is a linear polymer with a range of sizes between 400 to 2200 million.
Characteristics of APAM:
1. PAM molecules adhere to particle surfaces, forming bridges between particles, leading to their aggregation and sedimentation.
2. Surface adsorption occurs due to the polar groups on the PAM molecule attracting particles with opposite charges.
3. Enhancement effect arises from the formation of a network by the entangled PAM molecules, strengthening the particles.
Applications:
1. Industrial wastewater treatment: Particularly effective for treating wastewater containing suspended particles, high concentration, positive charge, neutral or alkaline pH, and from industries such as electroplating, circuit boards, papermaking, printing, dyeing, leather tanning, etc.
2. Drinking water treatment: APAM is used in many tap water plants where raw water sources are rivers and lakes. It enhances sedimentation and filtration processes, reducing sludge production and improving water quality.
3. Paper industry: APAM serves as clarifying agent, retention aid, filter aid, and strength enhancer for sodium hydroxide.
4. Sugar industry: As a sugar juice clarifier.
5. Aquaculture feed additive and binder.
6. Coal washing plant and mineral processing plant: APAM accelerates material sedimentation.
Usage: APAM should be diluted to a concentration of 0.1-0.5%. When not using dedicated dissolution equipment, a dilution tank should be set up. The solution should be stirred slowly at a speed of 70-100 r/min before adding the product, which should then be stored in a storage tank.
Packaging and Storage: APAM comes in 25 kg polyethylene bag. It can also be packaged according to customer requirements. The shelf life of dry powder products is two years when stored in a cool, ventilated area.
